Brick plexes, canal lofts and condos: tailored installations

The streets of Saint-Henri, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Ville-Émard and Verdun are lined with row duplexes and triplexes, often reached through the lane. The outdoor unit then goes on a wall bracket, a back balcony or the roof, and the lines have to be run neatly through the brick.

In Griffintown and along the canal, condos and lofts come with their own constraints: water-source heat pumps to replace, condo board rules, roof access. Among other jobs, we replaced water-source heat pumps in Griffintown condos.

  • Discreet line routing, even through a brick wall.
  • Unit on a wall bracket, balcony or roof depending on the plex layout.
  • Coordination with co-owners and the condo board.
  • Borough rules on location and noise respected.

I wanted to share my excellent experience with this small, local company in the Southwest. Frédérick, the owner, personally handles the quotes, which is much appreciated. He presented us with several machines, taking the time to thoroughly explain each option. After receiving quotes from three companies, we quickly decided to go with them, both for the quality of their service and the clarity of their explanations. During the installation, there were two of them, and they did an absolutely outstanding job. They took care of the old machine and even cleaned their workspace with their own vacuum cleaner before leaving—a level of attention to detail that makes all the difference. Even my dog, Maria, supervised the whole process and trusted them, which speaks volumes! The entire installation took no more than three hours. Frédérick then took the time to explain all the features of the machine and the remote control in detail, including its self-cleaning function. We've already successfully tested the heating mode, and I'm really looking forward to trying the cooling mode. I'll definitely call you, Frédéric, to come and install the Wi-Fi system this summer! I recommend this company to everyone, without hesitation!

Frequently asked questions

Heat pumps in the Sud-Ouest and Verdun: your questions

Plexes with no yard, rooftops, borough permits, Griffintown condos: our answers to the neighbourhood’s questions.

Who installs heat pumps in Verdun and the Sud-Ouest?

HVAC MTL is a local business based at 4035 Saint-Ambroise Street, on the edge of Saint-Henri and Côte-Saint-Paul. We have 19 documented projects in Verdun, Saint-Henri, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Ville-Émard, Côte-Saint-Paul, Little Burgundy and Griffintown.

Do you disconnect heat pumps for roof work in the Sud-Ouest?

Yes. In Côte-Saint-Paul, for example, we disconnected and reconnected 31 heat pumps for a roof replacement project. We work on the roofer’s schedule and check every unit when reconnecting it.

Can a heat pump be installed on a plex with no yard?

Yes. On a Sud-Ouest plex, the outdoor unit is often mounted on a wall bracket, a back balcony or the roof. We choose the location that respects borough rules, limits noise for neighbours and stays accessible for maintenance.

Do I need a permit from the borough?

It depends on where the outdoor unit goes and on your property. Boroughs regulate, among other things, units visible from the street and noise. We check the rules before installing and tell you if a step with the borough is needed.

Do you replace water-source heat pumps in Griffintown condos?

Yes. We have replaced water-source heat pumps in Griffintown condos. We coordinate the work with the condo board and building management.
