Stelpro or Gree: which is better for Quebec winters?

Both brands offer models that heat down to −30 °C (Stelpro Pro B and Multi B; Gree Vireo, Crossover and Free Match M). Stelpro uses R-454B refrigerant with an A2L leak detector and also offers a central heat pump (Slim B); Gree uses R32. The right choice depends on your space, whether you want WiFi, the labour warranty and your budget.

What is R-454B refrigerant?

It’s a new-generation refrigerant used in recent Stelpro heat pumps. Classified A2L (mildly flammable), it comes with a leak detector built into the units. Installing it requires a qualified refrigeration technician, like those on our team.

What warranty do Stelpro heat pumps carry?

The compressor and parts are covered for 10 years on all our Stelpro models. Labour is covered for 10 years on the Elite B, Multi B and Slim B series, and 1 year on the Pro B series.

Pro B, Elite B, Multi B or Slim B?

Stelpro Pro B — a ductless split wall unit rated A+++ by the manufacturer, with an ionizer and high-density filter for air quality, WiFi and self-cleaning. Heats down to −30 °C. 10-year compressor and parts warranty, 1 year labour.
Stelpro Elite B — a premium, ultra-quiet wall unit with a self-cleaning system, smart mode and WiFi. Heats down to −25 °C and includes 10 years of labour.
Stelpro Multi B — ductless multi-zone: up to six indoor units on a single outdoor unit, with room-by-room control. Heats down to −30 °C.
Stelpro Slim B — a central heat pump with discreet ducts for even heating and cooling throughout the house, with diagnostic codes on the wall controller. See our central heat pumps.
